Veterans can now receive care at Ascension sites of care across the country, rather than through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), if they face wait times in excess of 30 days or have to travel farther than 40 miles from their home to a VA facility with a full-time primary care physician.
Ascension providers are authorized to provide primary care, inpatient and outpatient specialty care, and mental health care for eligible veterans outside of the VA. The newly enacted Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act provides $10 billion for a temporary program to give non-VA medical care to eligible veterans.
Ascension caregivers are called to sustain and improve the health of individuals and our communities. We are committed to a compassionate and just society. Through the Veterans Choice Program, Ascension sites of care nationwide can help expand the number of healthcare options for our nation’s veterans, ensuring more timely access to high-quality care.
Ascension has established a contractual agreement with TriWest Healthcare Alliance and national provider registration with Health Net Federal Services, LLC — both are federal health benefit administrators to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
These third-party administrators (TPAs) serve different geographic regions of the country to provide eligible veterans access to care in their community when the local VA facility cannot readily provide care.

Ascension hospitals, clinics and doctors nationwide accept Veterans Choice.
This means any veteran waiting more than 30 days for an appointment at the VA or those who have to travel more than 40 miles from their home, can receive the compassionate, personalized care they deserve from their local Ascension doctors.
Our associates are honored to fulfill our Mission of serving all persons, especially those most in need. We are grateful that veterans have a choice in healthcare, and it's our privilege to provide it.
