Childhood cancer survivor inspires others

KXAN-TV in Austin, Texas, recently shared the story of 9-year-old Kooper Hernandez, a childhood cancer survivor who is inspiring others around him.

Four years ago, he had what his family thought was a common broken leg. It turned out to be cancer.

Kooper’s leg was amputated at Dell Children’s Medical Center, part of Ascension Texas.

After weeks of chemotherapy, the cancer was gone and the family started their new normal. Kooper wanted to join the football team, and his wish was his coach’s command.

Kooper has advice for kids going through similar times: never give up.
