James K. Beckmann Jr. has joined Ascension Holdings as Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer. Ascension Holdings serves as an incubation engine to develop and manage services and solutions that contribute to increasing the performance of Ascension, Catholic healthcare and the broader healthcare industry.

In his new role, Beckmann will provide thought leadership and support to the leaders of the operating companies of Ascension Holdings including Medxcel and The Resource Group, the Innovations Accelerator Team, and Ascension’s activities in the digital health market. Ascension Holdings is a direct subsidiary of Ascension.

“Jim’s wealth of experience and leadership skills will be great assets to Ascension Holdings and its portfolio of companies, which are designed to add value to Ascension by providing services to the Health Ministries of Ascension Health as well as other health systems in the U.S. and internationally,” said John D. Doyle, Executive Vice President, Ascension, and President and CEO, Ascension Holdings.

For the past three years Beckmann has served as the President and CEO of Carondelet Health Network, a Ministry of Ascension Health, where he was responsible for the strategic leadership and direction of the health system. “We’re grateful for Jim’s contributions at Carondelet and thank him for his efforts leading to a successful transition to a new joint venture with Tenet Healthcare, Dignity Health and Ascension to own and operate Carondelet,” said Robert J. Henkel, FACHE, Executive Vice President, Ascension, and President and Chief Executive Officer, Ascension Health.

Previously Beckmann was Senior Vice President for System Support Services at Ascension Health. In this role, he had overall leadership responsibility for Supply Chain, Risk Services, the Operations Resource Group, and the Facilities Resource Group. He also served as the System Chief Risk Officer.

Prior to joining Ascension, Beckmann had an extensive career in the insurance industry, most recently as a Senior Vice President at Marsh. Beckmann earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Applied Mathematics from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, and an MBA from the University of Tampa in Florida.
