Ascension Convenes Community Health Conference

Ascension recently gathered 150 leaders from across the national ministry for the 2015 Community Health, Equity and Inclusion Conference in New Orleans.

“With the pace of change accelerating, and with increasing challenges and opportunities (in healthcare), we want to focus on population health — to promote (disease) prevention and wellness. The best way to do this is through a community health strategy,” Anthony R. Tersigni, EdD, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, said in kicking off the conference.

Regina Benjamin, MD, MBA, former U.S. Surgeon General and current Ascension Board member, was instrumental in convening the event, which included noted speakers and panelists who led discussions of practical aspects of community health work, including the use of data, research, outreach work and advocacy to support community health goals.
